Félix Ziem, a french painter

  



Ziem Felix, said Ziem, born February 25, 1821 in Beaune (Côte-d'Or) and died November 10, 1911 in Paris, was a French painter of the Barbizon School known for his seascapes and landscapes of Venice and Constantinople. Attached to the Orientalist movement, it is considered a precursor of Impressionism.
Théophile Gautier, who compared Ziem’s work with that of Turner, defined his talent:”Each artist has an ideal homeland, often far away from his own country... Ziem’s homeland is Venice. Prolific artist, whose sustained by art dealers active career was a great commercial success, Ziem leaves more 10 000 paintings and 6,000 drawings. The Petit Palais, which has received a large donation Ziem in 1905, presents a hundred works.
